The game was designed by the Effing Games gaming company. However, despite the seemingly original concept, the idea is not new in itself. The concept was borrowed from JTR (With his permission) who designed a game called Death Worms. Effing Worms is a game that was built on that concept.
The Gameplay Of Effing Worms
The gameplay of Effing Worms is what makes it so darn addictive. You play as a giant worm who brings havoc from below the earth’s surface. You will eat hippies, military tanks, bomber jets, dogs, cows and other miscellaneous enemies. In the lower left hand, you have a hunger meter and as that hunger meter gets lower, you will have to satiate that hunger before it runs out. The hunger meter is also your health meter, and as you take damage from enemies, you will notice it dropping.
There are two strategies in this game. You can play as a stealthy worm who eats at the right opportunity, or you can wreak nonstop chaos upon your enemies. Each level has a certain number of enemies that you have to kill before you are allowed to step onto the next level.
Tips And Tricks
Tip #1 Stay close to the ground for maximum safety
The closer you are to the ground, the less damage you will take from the bullets. Whizzing through the air to eat a helicopter, while fun, leaves you open to lots of damage, so it is only a wise idea to jump through the air at the lonely choppers.
Tip #2 Low hunger? Machines! Om nom nom! No!
While machines will add to the amount of enemies that you have, which will help you to excel to the next level, they do not add to your hunger bar. This is why it is a better idea to search for hippies, cows or dogs to satisfy that burning hunger when your hunger meter is low. No risk of damage either. Think about it. Do you satisfy your hunger by munching on robots?
Tip #3 Hang gliders give good health
Of all the various enemies that you can eat, for some reason hang gliders seem to give you the most health. You also have to jump through the air to eat them, so you should choose your plan of attack carefully.
Tip #4 Slow It Down
You can reach great speeds with your worm. The problem is that you have less control over your worm, and at the higher levels, you want to drop back underground before any bombs can be dropped on you. Slowing it down also ensures that you do not hit landmines, which do the worst amount of damage to your worm in the game.
